Dr Emily Kirkpatrick
Dr Emily Kirkpatrick is a Healthcare Executive and Specialist General Practitioner, based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Dr Kirkpatrick is an experienced executive, who brings a primary and preventative health care perspective, with innovative solutions to tackling the increasing challenges of complexity in health systems. As a leader in innovation and a practising clinician, Dr Kirkpatrick has become an advocate for a delivering care at the right place, right time and by the right clinician. To do this, she firmly believes sustainability comes from creating a value-based healthcare ecosystem and leveraging virtual models of care delivery. Her most recent research was focused on the Virtual Hopsital of the Future and the opportunities to create safer systems with the support of AI and Machine Learning.
For nearly three years she led the South Australian COVID-19 community response during the pandemic, working as the Deputy Chief Public Health Officer and more recently as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of Community and Primary Care Partnerships for the Department for Health and Wellbeing. Dr Kirkpatrick works as an executive within the private health sector at the Calvary Amplar Health JV, partakes in a number of clinical advisory roles nationally and is a board member of Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
Dr Kirkpatrick's background is in holistic healthcare, health policy, medical education, research and preventative medicine. Dr Kirkpatrick is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, associate fellow of the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators, fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health and fellow of the International Society for Quality in Health Care. In addition, she has a significant post-nominal professional recognition for her research, educational studies and professional memberships.
